Fujifilm X-T5 – Our Main Travel Camera
If we could only keep one camera, this would be it.
The Fujifilm X-T5 takes almost every photo you see on our Instagram and blog. We had taken more than 20,000 photos with the Fujifilm X-T5 during our world trip. It survived rain in Japan, dusty roads in Laos and freezing temperatures in Hokkaido.
What we love:

Tamron 18-300mm – The Lens That Never Leaves Our Camera
This is probably the most important piece of gear we own.
Many photographers travel with multiple lenses.
We travel with one.
The Tamron 18-300mm covers almost everything:
- Landscapes
- Street photography
- Wildlife
- Architecture
- Portraits
- Distant mountains
The biggest advantage is convenience.
Instead of constantly changing lenses, we simply zoom.
That means fewer missed moments and less weight in our bag.
What We Don’t Like
❌ Not as sharp as professional prime lenses
❌ Not ideal in very dark conditions

DJI Flip – Our Travel Drone
When travelling long term, size matters.
That is why we chose the DJI Flip.
It is small, easy to carry, and quick to deploy. Most important is easy to apply drone permits in almost every countries we visited.

Insta360 X4 – Our Storytelling Camera
The Insta360 X4 captures moments that traditional cameras cannot.
We use it for:
- Walking tours
- Hiking trails
- Cycling
- Travel transitions
- Behind-the-scenes footage
The ability to reframe footage later is incredibly useful.
Many shots that would normally require another person can be filmed solo.
What We Like

Would We Buy It Again?
Definitely.
When we started our world trip, we brought the Insta360 X4. After months on the road, it became one of our most-used cameras. We used it for hiking trails, city walks, drone-like shots, and capturing moments when setting up a camera simply wasn’t practical.

Insta360 GO 3S – The Camera We Use The Most
Surprisingly, this tiny camera ended up being one of the most-used pieces of gear in our entire travel setup.an expected.
It is perfect for:
- Food videos
- Hotel tours
- POV walking footage
- Daily travel moments
- Hiking clips when we didn’t want to carry a bigger camera
Because it is so small and lightweight, we often carried it when leaving the hotel with only a small sling bag. Many of our favourite travel clips were filmed on the GO 3S simply because it was always with us.

What Happened To Ours?
Our GO 3S was white.
During a snowy day in Japan, it detached while we were filming and disappeared into the snow. We spent a long time searching for it but never found it again.😭
As frustrating as it was, losing it taught us one thing: we were using it far more than we realised. Oh! and don’t buy white color
What We Bought Next
After losing the GO 3S, we upgraded to the Insta360 GO Ultra.
The biggest improvements for us are:
✅ Better low-light performance for night markets and evening walks
✅ Removable microSD card support
✅ More flexibility when travelling long-term
The removable storage alone makes life much easier when you’re constantly creating content on the road.
Would We Buy It Again?
Absolutely.
In fact, we already did.
Losing our GO 3S in the snow was painful, but instead of switching brands, we immediately bought another Insta360 camera. That says a lot about how useful it was during our travels.
If you mainly shoot during the day and want the smallest possible camera, the GO 3S is still an excellent choice.
If you travel long-term like we do and often film at night, we’d recommend spending a little more for the GO Ultra.

The Most Underrated Travel Gear

Very few ask about our power bank.
